Fall Harvest Food Drive Kick-Off — Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank @CambFoodBank @ Hespeler Zehrs

Cambridge Selfhelp Food Bank The Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank will hold the 2018 Fall Harvest Food Drive Kick-Off on Wednesday, September 19 th , 11 a.m., at Hespeler Zehrs. This Kick-Off event marks the beginning of a month long food drive across the city of Cambridge and the Township of North Dumfries. Guests attending the Kick-Off event are encouraged to bring food and/or monetary donations for the Food Bank.

What: Several speakers will attend the event including Cameron Dearlove, Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank Executive Director, Mayor Doug Craig, and Debbie, a Food Bank Co-operative Member. In addition, the event will include a Stuff-A-Van food-raiser, refreshments, and information about upcoming Fall Food Drive events.

When: Wednesday, September 19 th , 11 a.m.

Where: Hespeler Zehrs, 180 Holiday Inn Dr, Cambridge, ON N3C 3Z4

Why: The Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank serves over 1,600 families in Cambridge and North Dumfries each month. The summer months are often the lowest time for donations and volunteers at the Food Bank. The Fall Food Drive is a great event to re-connect with the community, replenish the shelves of the Food Bank, and offer information about our individual and community supports.

Interview and Photo Opportunities: Cameron Dearlove, Executive Director of the Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank will be in attendance and happy to answer questions regarding Fall Food Drive activities. Mayor Doug Craig will be in attendance to say a few words. Additionally, Debbie, a member of the Food Bank Co-operative will be available to discuss her experiences with the Food Bank.

About Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank: The Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank (CSHFB) is an independent, non-profit, charitable organization that offers food and support to people and community groups in need within Cambridge and North Dumfries. Encouraging self-reliance through programs and services, the CSHFB strives to provide everyone with access to healthy food, extend a caring hand and develop each person’s unique strengths while providing opportunities for growth. The Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank offers food and support to people and community groups in need within Cambridge and North Dumfries. We encourage self-reliance through programs and services. The Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank is currently providing food to over 1,600 families per month as well 26 community organizations receive food from our Food Bank.

ALIV(e) Meeting with Jane Mitchell @ Social Development Centre

The people of ALIV(e) ALIV(e) (Awareness of Low Income Voices) next meeting is October 19th 11:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. Guest speaker will be Waterloo Regional Councillor Jane Grey Mitchell.

ALIV(e) is a pretty small group. Our chair is Erma Friesen. Erma tries to get us guest speakers for most meetings.

The meeting is held at the Social Development Centre on 23 Water Street North, entrance on Duke. Map
