Join us for a town hall meeting to help shape the vision for a Green New Deal for Canada.  Our meeting is co-sponsored by the KW Chapter of the Council of Canadians, Divest Waterloo, University of Waterloo IC3 (Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change) and Faculty of Environment.  Our facilitator is Dr. Gordon Laxer, political economist, founding director of Parkland Institute of Alberta and specialist in pipelines, energy and the environment who will introduce our theme, “A just transition for Canada”.  Please RSVP below for this event.

This event is one of many Green New Deal town halls being held in communities across the country. The conversation is being led from the ground up through town halls bringing together people from all walks of life to discuss our vision for a new economy — one that cuts global warming pollution, sees the full implementation of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the Right to Free Prior and Informed Consent, and the TRC recommendations, creates millions of green jobs, and makes sure no one gets left behind. The input from these town halls will be used to inform a vision for a Green New Deal for all.

In advance of the GND town hall, Dr. Laxer is presenting a lecture, “Pipelines, Tar Sands and the Climate” on June 18, 2019 at the University of Waterloo.  If you wish to attend this event please RSVP at http://act.greennewdealcanada.ca/town-halls/waterloo8
